About The Position

The Walker School seeks a dynamic and engaging Orton-Gillingham Tutor to join their tutorial team. Tutors will support students in grades 1-5 identified by the Learning Support Team. Walker tutors are granted a great deal of autonomy in their tutoring sessions and are encouraged to develop relationships with their students and families.

Requirements

• Training and experience using the Orton-Gillingham methodology
• Comfortable working 1:1 with students
• Flexibility and patience to meet the needs of all types of learners
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to work independently
• Bachelor's degree in the education field
• Orton-Gillingham certification at the Associate level OR completion of Associate-level coursework (within three years) and a willingness to obtain certification within two years of the hire date

Responsibilities

• Create schedules with teachers and parents
• Communicate with teachers, parents, Learning Support, and administration
• Read, interpret and apply testing results
• Adjust instruction to match student needs/progress
• Use multisensory, structured literacy interventions
