Shriners Children’s is seeking an Orthotics & Prosthetics Technician I to perform orthotic and/or prosthetic technical duties under the supervision of the Lab Supervisors. This role involves demonstrating competence in the fabrication, adjustment, and repairing of all orthotic and/or prosthetic appliances. The technician will be responsible for achieving goals on a set performance plan, adjusting schedules to expedite emergency fabrications or repairs, and completing department-specific and hospital-wide safety requirements. Attention to quality is crucial, ensuring clean projects with even contours, smooth edges, and secure parts, while identifying and addressing deficiencies. The role requires proficiency in plaster-working abilities, including cast sealing, preparation, mixing, and pouring to produce solid models. The technician will fabricate and repair complex devices, seeking input as needed, and maintain inventory of fabricated parts and stock devices/supplies. They will also independently fabricate and repair standard orthotic or prosthetic appliances, examining structural integrity and cosmesis according to standards. Maintaining a clean, safe, clutter-free, and orderly environment, along with cleaning equipment in the O&P laboratory, are also key responsibilities.
