About The Position

The Orthopedics Manager is responsible for the daily management of one or more physician practice sites within SCMG Scotland Other Practices, specifically Laurinburg Orthopedics. This role involves providing management, guidance, and training to staff, ensuring operational efficiency, financial viability, and high-quality patient care. The manager will oversee daily activities, staff scheduling, purchasing, payroll, and ensure compliance with regulatory and system processes. They will also conduct staff meetings and manage financial performance, including budget development and adherence, accounts receivable, and point-of-service collections. Personnel management includes performance appraisals, counseling, and hiring of non-provider staff. The position requires strong communication, organization, customer service, and computer skills, with a minimum of two years of practice management experience, preferably in multiple specialties. ACMPE Board Certification is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for daily management of one or more physician practice sites.
  • Provides management, guidance and training to staff in daily practice operations.
  • Performs duties of subordinate staff when necessary to maintain practice operations.
  • Motivates staff and organizes day-to-day activity of department.
  • Ensures scheduling of staff to promote provider productivity as well as to promote high clinical quality, high service quality, operational and financial viability, and to ensure appropriate patient access to practice.
  • Purchases supplies and insures proper value for funds expended.
  • Evaluates invoices for accuracy, codes and submits invoices to Central A/P on a timely basis.
  • Ensures accuracy of payroll submission.
  • Ensures overtime and/or temporary personnel are within budget.
  • Assists staff with payroll issues.
  • Understands and assures compliance for regulatory, accreditation and system process.
  • Conducts both weekly standup and monthly staff meetings.
  • Prepares agendas and forwards meeting notes to the Director of Primary Care.
  • Reviews monthly financial performance.
  • Identifies opportunities for improvement and works with POC to develop a Site-Specific Action Plan to implement necessary changes to meet budget.
  • Ensures compliance to fiscal standards with focus on volume, payer mix, fees, customer service initiatives, productivity, coding and documentation, non-provider labor, building occupancy expenses, and clinical supply costs.
  • Works with POC to maintain practice operating and financial ratios to meet practice and system goals.
  • Participates with POC in annual budget development, and is accountable for practice adherence to budget and/or other fiscal goals.
  • Reviews point-of-service collections daily and accounts receivable on at least a monthly basis to ensure A/R is within established standards.
  • Works with CPO Director, Director of Primary Care and subordinate staff to create action plans to address variances in A/R to standards.
  • Ensures subordinate staff is trained, capable and held accountable to provide high quality care in a caring manner, as well as for all other tasks within practice.
  • Ensures compliance with regulatory guidelines, accreditation requirements and system policies/procedures for all activities within practice.
  • Provides ongoing performance appraisal of all non-provider support staff, with the assistance and input of the POC, using the Critical Incident Method of performance appraisal.
  • Conducts annual evaluation process for subordinate staff and compiles information for human resource department in a timely manner.
  • Ensures that all support staff members maintain licensure and certifications as required, as well as coordinating yearly competency evaluation.
  • With coaching from Director of Primary Care, counsels non-provider employees in disciplinary matters and obtains assistance from human resources appropriately for disciplinary actions and/or employee termination process.
  • Works with the POC to interview and hire non-physician personnel as necessary.
  • Maintains communication with Director of Primary Care on weekly basis to review the SSAP, as well as other projects defined by Director of Primary Care.
