About The Position

Inova Orthopedics is seeking a full-time Orthopedic Trauma Surgeon to join their team at Inova Fairfax Medical Campus and Inova Loudoun Hospital. This position is eligible for a sign-on bonus and relocation assistance. The Inova Orthopedic Trauma and Fracture Care Program, part of the Inova Trauma Center (Northern Virginia’s only level 1 trauma center), provides world-class treatment for complex musculoskeletal conditions. Patients are often transferred from across the mid-Atlantic and beyond. The orthopedic trauma team utilizes the latest surgical advances, including minimally invasive techniques, to treat conditions such as acute fractures, bone infections, complex peri-articular fractures, fracture non-unions and mal-unions, geriatric fractures, and pelvis and acetabular fractures, as well as post-traumatic deformity. Requirements

  • Doctor of Medicine or Doctor of Osteopathy degree from an accredited institution.
  • Successful completion of Orthopedic residency program.
  • Successful completion of Orthopedic Trauma fellowship.
  • Board eligible or board certified in Orthopedics.
  • Current unrestricted license to practice medicine in the State of Virginia.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) upon start.
  • ACLS, PALS (when appropriate).
  • Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors.
  • Ability to be enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor.
  • Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services.

  • 1+ year physician experience in Orthopedic Trauma.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, diagnose, and treat patients with acute orthopedic injuries and musculoskeletal trauma.
  • Perform operative and non-operative management of fractures involving the upper and lower extremities, pelvis, acetabulum, and other complex musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Participate in trauma call coverage and provide timely consultation for emergency department and inpatient trauma cases.
  • Collaborate with trauma surgeons, emergency physicians, intensivists, anesthesiologists, rehabilitation specialists, and other healthcare professionals to coordinate comprehensive patient care.
  • Develop individualized treatment plans and provide postoperative management and long-term follow-up.
  • Interpret diagnostic imaging, laboratory studies, and other clinical data to guide patient management.
  • Maintain accurate, timely, and complete medical documentation in accordance with organizational policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Participate in quality improvement initiatives, peer review, and patient safety programs.
  • Supervise and educate advanced practice providers, residents, fellows, and medical students, as applicable.
  • Maintain compliance with hospital bylaws, accreditation standards, and applicable federal and state regulations.
  • Participate in departmental meetings, committees, and continuing medical education activities.
