Requirements

  • Masters Degree and Graduate of an accredited NP or PA program
  • Board certified (ACNP or NCCPA certification)
  • BLS
  • Virginia License
  • Virginia DEA
  • Ability to successfully complete the credentialing process by third-party payors
  • Ability to enrolled as a CMS Medicare/Medicaid payor
  • Successful completion of credentialing for Medical Staff membership and appropriate clinical privileges sufficient to perform all required services

Responsibilities

  • Functions as a key member of the orthopedic trauma team, providing comprehensive care to patients with musculoskeletal injuries.
  • Collaborates with attending orthopedic surgeons, residents, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across the continuum – including the emergency department, operating room, inpatient units, and outpatient clinics.
  • Responds to full/modified trauma activations with known orthopedic injuries at a Level 1 Trauma Center.
  • Performs comprehensive orthopedic assessments, including history, physical exams, and diagnostic interpretation.
  • First-assists in the operating room and performs orthopedic procedures (e.g., reductions, traction pins, casting, splinting, bedside I&Ds when needed, and wound care).
  • Responds to consults, develops treatment plans, and coordinates care in collaboration with the orthopedic team, within appropriate time frames.
  • Documents care in the EMR, completes inpatient discharges, and ensures appropriate follow-up.
  • Participates in daily rounds, trauma meetings, and interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • Educates patients, families, and supports training of residents or students as needed.
  • Maintains licensure, certifications, and contributes to quality improvement initiatives.
  • Participates in fracture conferences, M&M presentations, journal clubs, and research sessions along residents and attendings.
  • Primarily inpatient coverage with limited outpatient coverage of clinic.
