About The Position

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Orthopedic Technician to assist orthopedic physicians and physician assistants (PA) in a busy outpatient clinic setting. The ideal candidate will support patient care through casting, splinting, documentation, and clinical assistance while maintaining compliance with facility policies and procedures.

Requirements

High School Diploma or GED (required; higher degree if hired after March 1, 2025)
Orthopedic Technician Certification (Required)
American Heart Association (AHA) BLS Certification (Required)
Strong written and verbal communication skills
Ability to operate general office equipment (computer, printer, scanner, phone)
Ability to prioritize tasks and manage time effectively
Critical thinking skills
Work within scope of practice

Nice To Haves

Prior orthopedic clinical experience
Experience in high-volume outpatient settings
Familiarity with EMR systems

Responsibilities

Assist orthopedic physician/PA with procedures, anticipating supply needs
Apply orthopedic devices (casts, splints, braces, external fixators) for patients ranging from infant to geriatric
Perform removal of sutures/staples and dressing changes
Assist with patient intake, rooming, charting, and documentation
Obtain patient history and prepare physician for examinations
Manage patient flow and maintain stocked treatment areas
Prepare and organize surgery charts, orders, consents, and scan patient records
Process DME applications when needed
Log nurse notes and medication refills in patient charts
Return patient calls and messages within the same business day
Maintain compliance with Code of Conduct and clinic policies
Participate in continuing education and stay current with orthopedic techniques
