About The Position

An orthopedic technician is an Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT) with additional training in orthopedic injury stabilization, traction, and splinting and casting. The technician assembles traction devices, gathers supplies and equipment in preparation for procedures, and assists providers with orthopedic procedures. The role also includes educating other emergency department staff on proper and safe application techniques, managing orthopedic supply inventory, and documenting procedures in the electronic medical record (EMR).

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
At least 6 months of experience as an Emergency Medical Care Technician (EMCT).
Understanding of medical terminology.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Competency using computer software, office equipment, and specialized equipment such as handheld scanners.
Ability to demonstrate timeliness, courtesy, sincerity, and patience when dealing with internal and external customers.
Ability to multitask and handle high-stress situations.
Ability to work effectively as a team member.
Effective time management, organization, and planning skills.

Nice To Haves

Associate degree in a related field.
