Orthopedic Technician
About The Position
Put your orthopedic skills to work helping patients regain comfort, mobility, and confidence. You’ll provide hands-on clinical support in an orthopedic clinic where casting, bracing, wound care, and patient education are part of the everyday workflow. At International SOS Government Medical Services, you'll support healthcare programs that improve patient care and operational readiness across the U.S. and internationally. Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent, with additional training or education related to orthopedic care
- At least one year of related experience in an accredited hospital within the past 24 months, resulting in familiarity with orthopedic hospital or clinic routines and procedures, including orthopedic trauma, pediatrics, hand, foot and ankle, sports, and/or spine care.
- Current national certification through the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals or the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists
- Current Healthcare Provider BLS certification meeting American Heart Association or American Red Cross guidelines
- Knowledge of patient privacy and advocacy, customer relations, HIPAA, and applicable AAAHC, Joint Commission, and clinical practice standards
Responsibilities
- Fit and apply casts, splints, braces, crutches, and other orthopedic appliances and soft goods
- Assist physicians and nurses with wound care, aspirations, minor surgical procedures, fracture reductions, dressing changes, and the removal of sutures, casts, and splints
- Educate patients on cast and traction care and the safe use of orthopedic devices, while supporting appropriate education for patients and their families
- Maintain clean, organized, and well-stocked cast and supply areas, including coordinating special equipment and supply needs
- Support clinic information systems and data-collection activities while protecting patient privacy and confidentiality
- Follow established clinical, safety, quality, and emergency-response procedures while remaining current with orthopedic care practices and supplies
