About The Position

This is a hospital work setting, where you will be providing care to the highest level of care for premature and ill newborns, as designated by The American Academy of Pediatrics in a level 1 Trauma Center and is a teaching hospital. Total staffed beds are 323 inpatient beds - 70 of them dedicated to Neonatal ICU.

Requirements

  • Must have two years of recent experience in Orthopedics, particularly in casting.
  • Shall provide specialized technical support to the Orthopedics division.
  • Must be proficient in applying casts, splints, and braces on patients.
  • Must hold NBCOT (Ortho Tech) certification or Registered Orthopedic Technician certification.
  • Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs.
  • Must have up-to-date COVID-19 immunizations and boosters; exemptions will not be accepted.

Responsibilities

  • Performs a variety of orthopedic-related activities including applying and removing dressings, sutures/staples, casts, and splints in a clinical setting.
  • Assist physicians with back-office duties, including rooming patients, taking vital signs and patient history, and aiding in minor procedures.
  • Adhere to prescription refill protocols.
  • Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information.
  • Perform basic triage according to specific office protocols.
  • Recognize and respond to urgent/emergent situations following established protocols.
  • Maintain the work area, exam rooms, supplies, medications, and immunizations.
  • Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling, filing, and recalls.
  • Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
  • Follow employer work practices as described in the hospital's Policy Handbook.
  • Collaborate as a team member within the orthopedics department and across other departments.
  • Effectively manage job-related stress.
  • Document work processes as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
