About The Position

This is a hospital work setting, where you will be providing care to the highest level of care for premature and ill newborns, as designated by The American Academy of Pediatrics in a level 1 Trauma Center and is a teaching hospital. Total staffed beds are 323 inpatient beds - 70 of them dedicated to Neonatal ICU.

Requirements

Must have two years of recent experience in Orthopedics, particularly in casting.
Shall provide specialized technical support to the Orthopedics division.
Must be proficient in applying casts, splints, and braces on patients.
Must hold NBCOT (Ortho Tech) certification or Registered Orthopedic Technician certification.
Ability to lift approximately 50 lbs.
Must have up-to-date COVID-19 immunizations and boosters; exemptions will not be accepted.

Responsibilities

Performs a variety of orthopedic-related activities including applying and removing dressings, sutures/staples, casts, and splints in a clinical setting.
Assist physicians with back-office duties, including rooming patients, taking vital signs and patient history, and aiding in minor procedures.
Adhere to prescription refill protocols.
Maintain confidentiality of sensitive patient information.
Perform basic triage according to specific office protocols.
Recognize and respond to urgent/emergent situations following established protocols.
Maintain the work area, exam rooms, supplies, medications, and immunizations.
Performs clerical tasks such as scheduling, filing, and recalls.
Maintain a professional appearance and conduct at all times.
Follow employer work practices as described in the hospital's Policy Handbook.
Collaborate as a team member within the orthopedics department and across other departments.
Effectively manage job-related stress.
Document work processes as required.
Performs other duties as assigned.
