About The Position

The Orthopedic Technician is responsible for assisting in the application and removal of casts, orthopedic splints, and other devices, as well as providing basic patient care. This role involves both clinical and front office functions, including clerical tasks and assisting in healthcare delivery and patient care support activities. The Orthopedic Technician performs duties according to the specific needs of the practice.

Requirements

  • High School/GED
  • Minimum of six months experience with computers, Microsoft Office, and email.
  • Minimum of six months health care facility clinical experience or clinical education (including enrollment or completion of OSF MSS MOA Bridge Program).
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Solid computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft software.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to be detail oriented.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a medical assistance program or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six months experience as a medical office assistant or CNA or equivalent.
  • Minimum of six months experience with an electronic health record system.
  • Some knowledge of medical terminology.
  • BLS certification.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting in the application of casts.
  • Removal of casts, including complex casting.
  • Application of orthopedic splints and other devices.
  • Providing basic care to patients.
  • Performing clinical and front office functions.
  • Providing clerical support.
  • Assisting in the delivery of health care and patient care support activities.
  • Performing duties in accordance with the specific needs of the practice.
