About The Position

This is a full-time position (80 hours per pay period) with 8-hour varied day shifts, Monday through Friday. The position is primarily based at Scripps Clinic Torrey Pines in La Jolla. Occasional travel to other Scripps Clinic locations may be required to support operational and staffing needs. About Our Team: Our Orthopedics team is built on strong collaboration among surgeons, nurses, physician assistants, medical assistants, schedulers, and other healthcare professionals. We care for a diverse range of orthopedic conditions, including upper and lower extremities and spine, giving our team the opportunity to build expertise across multiple specialties. Team members work closely with our surgeons in the clinic, assist with procedures, and help coordinate care throughout each patient’s orthopedic journey.

Requirements

  • General knowledge of casting and splint application and removal.
  • Knowledge of universal precautions, sterile field maintenance, and instrument sterilization.
  • Demonstrated technical competency in casting, suture removal, and basic wound dressing application.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in person and by telephone.
  • Ability to read, understand, and follow instructions in English.
  • Demonstrated patient sensitivity and a commitment to providing compassionate care.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Current OTC certification required.
  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification through the American Heart Association required.

Nice To Haves

  • One or more years of experience in an orthopedic office or related orthopedic setting.
  • Previous orthopedic technician experience.
  • Experience assisting with orthopedic procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Perform and assist with patient assessments and technical procedures to accurately assess each patient’s condition, including procedures as appropriate.
  • Evaluate patients and document patient interactions accurately and thoroughly.
  • Practice infection prevention and control measures.
  • Collaborate with the care team and contribute as needed to ensure quality patient care.
