About The Position

At the Orthopedic Clinic at Short Pump Pavilion, we provide a range of care to patients of all ages for a multitude of orthopedic sub-specialties to include foot/ankle, hand, joint, shoulder/elbow and spine as well as pediatrics, oncology, sports, trauma and wounds. We are made up of a collaborative team of RNs, LPNs, CMAs, NPs, PAs, Surgeons and Physicians who are dedicated to providing exceptional care to or patients. Our clinic hours are Monday-Friday 7:45am-5pm and we offer flexible shift options. You will work some Saturday clinic hours 9am-1pm but no nights or holidays are required. Enjoy free parking onsite! Under the supervision of a licensed independent practitioner, the Orthopedic Tech job applies casts, splints and other DME to the Orthopedic patient population in an outpatient setting. This role provides patient/family teaching to a wide variety of patients with varying educational levels. This role also orders and maintains supplies in the cast room.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • BLS Certification required
  • Functions under direction of a licensed independent practitioner in providing patient care related to casts, splints and wound care all in accordance with hospital, nursing and unit policy/procedure.
  • Requires prior approval or guidance from supervisor regarding time/schedule changes, legal issues, direct care which deviates from standard and identifying educational resources to meet developmental needs.

Nice To Haves

  • Orthopedic Technician Certified (OTC) by the National Board for Certification of Orthopaedic Technologist (NBCOT) preferred
  • Current/active OTC certification preferred
  • Previous experience in the outpatient clinical setting

Responsibilities

  • Applies casts, splints and other DME to the Orthopedic patient population in an outpatient setting.
