About The Position

Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is seeking a Certified Orthopedic Tech/Medical Assistant for a Full Time position in the Orthopedics department. This role is Monday - Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM, located in Brandon, FL. The primary responsibility is to assemble and apply different types of casts and various braces according to physician orders.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent required.
Maintains current BLS/Healthcare Provider certification.
Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or at least one (1) year of verifiable and applicable work experience as a Certified Medical Assistant in a patient care setting) required.
Maintains current BLS Healthcare Provider Certification
Maintains current certification or registration by one of the following agencies: Certified Clinical Medical Assistant (CCMA) by National Health career Association (NHA), Certified Medical Assistant (CMA) by the American Association of Medical Assistants (AAMA), Clinical Medical Assistant Certification (CMAC) by the American Medical Certification Association (AMCA), National Certified Medical Assistant (NCMA) by National Center for Competency Testing (NCCT), Nationally Registered Certified Medical Assistant (NRCMA) or Nationally Registered Certified Advanced Medical Assistant (NRCAMA) by the National Association for Health Professionals (NAHP), Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) by American Medical Technologists (AMT), the American Registry of Medical Assistants (ARMA), or by American Allied Health (AAH).
Applicants with an accepted Medical Assistant certification or registration from an agency not listed will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Responsibilities

Assists with transport of patients.
Performs any variation of the job that is directly related to the function of an orthopedic technician.
Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
Assists the orthopedic surgeons requested.
Participates in Quality Assurance (QA)/Quality Indicator (QI) as assigned.
Performs patient rounds, charting, charging, regular cleaning of equipment and in service education that is directly related to the orthopedic technician service.
