Orthopedic Patient Care Coordinators perform a variety of administrative and clinical tasks to help provide care to patients, support providers, and keep clinic operations running smoothly. The role involves ensuring the integrity of patient database information, participating in department clinical outcome projects and process improvement initiatives of care management, and implementing and coordinating patient care needs to facilitate the plan of care. The coordinator is also responsible for the assessment and coordination of patient care for the achievement of patient outcomes, verifying patient appointments and insurances, handling authorizations, mailing patient letters, triaging patient calls, assisting physicians and other disciplines, and communicating with physicians regarding changes to the medical plan of care. The position requires demonstrating commitment to work partners, promoting trust, respect, and a positive attitude, and adhering to I.C.A.R.E. behaviors to improve the patient's experience.
