About The Position

At Ideal Dental, an Orthodontic Dental Assistant supports patients and the clinical team throughout orthodontic treatment. The role involves helping patients feel comfortable and informed, assisting the Orthodontist with procedures, and contributing to precise, efficient, patient-focused care. The assistant educates patients on post-treatment care, coordinates follow-ups, maintains accurate records, and supports clinical readiness, patient flow, and practice operations. Ideal Dental describes a collaborative environment with training and resources to develop skills and advance professionally.

Requirements

• Active Registered Dental Assistant License.
• Current CPR certification.
• Minimum of 1 year of specific orthodontic experience.
• Must be willing to travel within assigned areas.

Responsibilities

• Create a welcoming environment and help patients feel comfortable and confident throughout their orthodontic care.
• Support patients during orthodontic procedures and help them understand their treatment experience.
• Assist the Orthodontist with procedures.
• Untie and tie arch-wires.
• Bend and place arch-wires.
• Fit bands.
• Prepare for and assist with bonding.
• Take impressions.
• Communicate with patients and families.
• Educate patients on post-treatment care and recovery.
• Coordinate care and follow-ups and communicate clearly with patients.
• Maintain detailed and accurate records.
• Take and develop x-rays.
• Take intraoral and extraoral photographs.
• Use the computer imaging system.
• Sterilize instruments.
• Pour up models.
• Inventory supplies.
• Help manage clinical readiness, patient flow, and operational support.
• Contribute to a collaborative team environment and high-quality specialty care.
