About The Position

The Orthodontic Assistant will support doctors during treatment exams and all necessary functions. RDAs are responsible for performing all duties of a Registered Dental Assistant while providing quality customer service and maintaining a professional relationship and positive attitude with co-workers and patients alike. This position will be responsible for greeting and preparing patients for dental care, assisting the orthodontist at the chair, anticipating the orthodontist's needs, removal and placement of arch wires, tooth preparation prior to bonding, accurate computer charting, sterilization of chairs and instruments, providing oral hygiene instructions, placement and removal of brackets, taking panoramic and cephalometric x-rays as well as oral photographs, and undertaking lab tasks as instructed.

Requirements

• Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
• Knowledge of dental terminology and dental procedures
• Familiar with Sterilization
• Familiar with OSHA guidelines and procedures
• Experience in a professional environment with direct patient contact preferred
• Previous experience required
• Excellent communication skills
• Bilingual

Responsibilities

• Greet and prepare patients for dental care
• Assist the orthodontist at the chair while they are engaged in any treatment of patients
• Anticipate the orthodontist's needs and be prepared for the next steps
• Removal and placement of arch wires
• Tooth preparation prior to bonding
• Accurate computer charting
• Sterilization of chairs and instruments
• Responsible for oral hygiene instructions
• Placement and removal of brackets
• Take panoramic and cephalometric x-rays as well as oral photographs
• Undertake lab tasks as instructed
