About The Position

The Orthopedic Clinic Technician provides direct and indirect patient care support within a fast-paced orthopedic clinic setting. This role assists physicians with surgical and non-surgical orthopedic procedures, including cast applications and removals, fracture care, dressing changes, brace fittings, and patient education. The Technician supports both inpatient and outpatient orthopedic care by applying and monitoring mobilization and immobilization devices such as slings, braces, traction equipment, and continuous passive motion machines. This position also plays an active role in surgery and procedure scheduling, ensuring all required testing, authorizations, and resources are coordinated prior to procedures. The ideal candidate demonstrates strong communication skills, attention to detail, compassion, and the ability to work effectively in a team-oriented clinical environment.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • BLS certification is required.
  • Knowledge and understanding of medical terminology and human anatomy and physiology.
  • Excellent Gross and Fine motor skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Ability to achieve cognitive, organization and emotional maturity to deal effectively with multiple tasks, stresses, deadlines, difficult situations and/or customers.
  • Possesses interpersonal/communication skills necessary for effective, non-judgmental, and empathetic patient care and customer relations.
  • Open to feedback, and open to a changing environment, which requires flexibility in scheduling and department assignments.

Nice To Haves

  • Athletic training or related healthcare education preferred.
  • Previous experience in a hospital, orthopedic, sports medicine, or physician office setting is preferred.
  • Orthopedic certification required within six months of hire.
  • Degree in Athletic Training preferred.
  • Prior experience in hospital, athletic training sports medicine or physician office setting is preferred.
