About The Position

The Ortho Tech is responsible for applying, removing, and adjusting casts and soft goods, and assisting medical staff with orthopedic procedures as needed to expedite patient care. The role promotes patient education and safety, supports customer satisfaction, demonstrates understanding of resource utilization, and performs other duties as assigned.

The Orthopedic Clinic provides services relating to musculoskeletal injuries and congenital disorders, including professional consultation, education, and outreach programs and services.

Requirements

• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
• Registered Orthopedic Technologist (ROT) certification through the American Society of Orthopedic Professionals (ASOP), or Orthopedic Technologist Certified (OTC) certification through the National Board for Certification of Orthopedic Technologists (NBCOT).
• Candidates who are not ROT- or OTC-certified must agree to complete the ROT examination within 18 months of hire. To qualify for the exam, they must have one year of casting experience under a physician’s direction or six months of experience under an ROT’s supervision.
• Two years of experience in a health care setting working with patients and staff and providing assistance with responsibilities such as those of a Medical Assistant (MA); orthopedic technician experience is preferred.

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma preferred.
• Experience as an Orthopedic Technician preferred.
