This role is responsible for ensuring the proper reprocessing and availability of orthopedic equipment for operating room schedules. The technician will decontaminate, inspect, test, package, and sterilize power equipment according to manufacturer instructions. They will also manage equipment repairs, coordinate with Biomedical Engineering, and maintain documentation. The position requires staying updated on industry changes and best practices, conducting in-services, and potentially assisting with departmental procedures and policies. The technician must be competent in operating various reprocessing equipment and technology, including washers, sterilizers, high-level disinfectors, incubators, and instrument tracking systems. In times of staffing shortages or increased workload, the technician may perform general technician duties and potentially assume leadership responsibilities in the absence of a supervisor or manager.
