About The Position

ASRC Federal is seeking an ORION Spacecraft Technician, Tool/Asset Control, Senior at Kennedy Space Center, FL. This role involves managing tool and asset control systems, maintaining inventory levels, creating acquisition requests, and supporting calibration oversight. The position requires a strong understanding of hand tools, drilling tools, and related structural/mechanical tooling, as well as the ability to perform physical inventory tasks. The Senior Technician will also serve as a primary point of contact for tool-related operations, provide training, and collaborate with engineering teams and vendors. Research into new tooling technologies and process improvements is also a key aspect of this role.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent experience/combined education; additional technical training or an associate‑level technical background preferred.
  • Demonstrated experience in inventory control, tool management, or asset tracking in a production or manufacturing environment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and understanding of hand and power‑tool applications.
  • Ability to lift, carry, and organize tools and materials, including ladder use for stocking tasks.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills for coordination with technicians, engineering, and vendors.
  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.

Responsibilities

  • Manage tool and asset control systems, including entry, updates, and maintenance of technician data across multiple databases.
  • Maintain inventory levels for production consumables, calibrated tools, and equipment across multiple operational locations.
  • Create acquisition requests for tool and consumable orders and track item status through receipt and end‑user distribution.
  • Set up, maintain, and manage databases and automated systems used for tool control, inventory management, and calibration tracking.
  • Support calibration oversight by tracking due dates, managing rejected items, coordinating repairs, and ensuring new items are properly tagged and documented.
  • Perform physical inventory tasks, including lifting, shelving, and organizing tools and consumables; use ladders as needed to stock materials.
  • Demonstrate strong familiarity with hand tools, drilling tools, drill bushings, and related structural/mechanical tooling.
  • Sort and prepare used drill bits for external regrind and refurbishment services.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for tool‑related operations, troubleshooting, and technician support.
  • Provide training support to new hires on proper tool use, including power‑feed drilling equipment.
  • Collaborate with engineering teams to understand tooling requirements and production needs.
  • Work directly with vendors regarding tool design needs, consumable specifications, and operational improvements.
  • Research new tooling technologies, capabilities, and process improvements to support production operations.
