About The Position

Laredo College is seeking to build a pool of qualified candidates for part-time (adjunct) instructor positions in Organizational Leadership for upcoming sessions and semesters. Applications will be reviewed based on departmental needs, and positions will be filled accordingly. Applications submitted to this pool will remain active for one year. Adjunct faculty are crucial to fulfilling the college's mission, vision, core values, and institutional goals. Reporting to the Department Chairperson/Program Director/Director, adjunct instructors are responsible for maintaining the quality and integrity of academic programs and delivering the curriculum. Key duties include creating a high-quality learning environment, providing effective instruction, assessing student learning, promoting continuous improvement, and fostering student engagement. Adjunct faculty must also participate in required professional development and adhere to all Laredo College policies and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Organizational Leadership, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field from an accredited institution; OR Master’s degree with a minimum of 18 graduate semester hours in Organizational Leadership, Educational Leadership, or a closely related field from an accredited institution.
  • Graduate coursework hours must align with the course learning outcomes the instructor will teach.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, evaluate, and revise course objectives to ensure instructional quality and alignment with accreditation standards.
  • Utilize the Laredo College Learning Management System (CANVAS) to organize and publish instructional materials.
  • Maintain an accurate and updated syllabus through Concourse each term.
  • Maintain students’ attendance records, submit grades and grade distribution sheets on time, and provide timely constructive feedback.
  • Follow procedures and the academic calendar related to the Office of the Registrar.
  • Counsel students and notify them or counselors of frequent absences, failures, or necessary make-up work.
  • Deliver curriculum in conjunction with LC policies, ensuring course rigor, academic integrity, and quality of instruction.
  • Review and revise curriculum and instructional materials to align with transfer frameworks and workforce demands.
  • Utilize a variety of teaching techniques to assess student learning needs and integrate real-life situations.
  • Use technology appropriately to design and support learning activities that develop students' understanding and academic literacy.
  • Consider individual student differences to design and support appropriate learning activities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve measurable learning outcomes and participate in Institutional Effectiveness/Program Reviews.
  • Measure and assess end-of-course learning outcomes and applicable standards.
  • Design and align assessments with learning objectives.
  • Regularly assess student performance and provide timely constructive feedback.
  • Evaluate teaching and assessment practices for continuous improvement.
  • Hold at least 30 minutes of office hours per class meeting.
  • Meet all assigned classes on time and hold office hours during the conference period/planning block.
  • Complete all required evaluation measures, Title IX, and other training.
  • Attend meetings called by the Department Chairperson/Program Director/Director or the Office of Dual Enrollment.
  • Participate in mandatory professional development activities.
  • Assist in submitting assessment plans for their respective discipline and/or program.
  • Participate in department, discipline-specific, and college activities and serve on committees.
  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Participate in the development and implementation of retention and persistence plans.
  • Participate in college-wide assessment and compliance practices.
  • May participate in community advisory councils.
  • Perform other duties assigned by supervisors.
