About The Position

The organizational development and anti-racism specialist provides strategic leadership and subject matter expertise to advance the institution’s commitments to anti-racism (AR), anti-oppression (AO), equity, and inclusive organizational effectiveness. This position focuses primarily on systemic anti-racism and anti-oppression work while intentionally integrating organizational development practices to embed sustainable culture change, leadership capacity, and inclusive people systems across the organization. The role leads the design, implementation, and evaluation of institution‑wide AR/AO strategies, frameworks, and initiatives, and serves as a trusted advisor to senior leaders and governance bodies on dismantling systemic racism and exclusion. Building campus-wide capacity, the specialist advances and supports organizational interventions that strengthen culture, engagement, and employee experience.

Requirements

  • A bachelor’s degree in human resources, organizational development, social sciences, or a related field; a master’s degree is preferred.
  • Minimum of six years of progressively responsible experience in anti-racism, anti-oppression, equity, or organizational development roles.
  • Experience leading organizational development, change management, engagement, or leadership development initiatives.
  • Demonstrated expertise in anti-racism and anti-oppression theory, systems change, and inclusive organizational practices.
  • Strong facilitation, consultation, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
  • Demonstrated commitment to continuous learning related to reconciliation, equity, diversity, inclusion, and organizational effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Leads the development, implementation, and evaluation of institutional anti-racism and anti-oppression strategies, frameworks, and initiatives.
  • Provides expert consultation and coaching to senior leaders, managers, and committees on dismantling systemic racism and oppression within organizational policies, structures, and practices.
  • Designs and delivers learning programs, resources, and facilitation focused on anti-racism, anti-oppression, equity, reconciliation, and inclusive leadership.
  • Supports culturally responsive approaches to addressing incidents of racism, discrimination, and harm, including advisory and restorative practices.
  • Leads and contributes to organizational development initiatives such as leadership development, engagement strategies, and change management aligned with anti-racism and inclusion goals.
  • Integrates anti-racism and organizational development principles into talent, learning, and people practices, in collaboration with human resources and other campus partners.
  • Supports the design and evaluation of organizational interventions that strengthen inclusive culture, collaboration, and employee experience.
  • Develops and applies qualitative and quantitative measures to assess institutional progress, risks, and outcomes related to anti-racism and anti-oppression.
  • Builds capacity across campus in the AR/AO domain and leverages the expertise of individuals and units whose work or interests intersect with AR/AO.
  • Applies organizational diagnostics, workforce data, and systems thinking to inform people strategies and organizational effectiveness.
  • Communicates and acts in a respectful and professional manner, collaborates effectively, abides by policy, and contributes to a positive and productive work and learning environment.
  • Engages in continuous learning by participating in activities, training, and events related to Indigenous engagement, reconciliation, equity, diversity, and inclusion.
  • Demonstrates respect and dignity for all members of the community, actively contributes to an environment of acceptance and inclusion of others, and responds to different perspectives from a place of curiosity, respect, and non-judgement.
