About The Position

Beyond New Horizons, LLC (BNH) is hiring an Organic Chemist to join its Engineering Solutions team supporting the Test Operations and Sustainment contract at Arnold Engineering Development Complex at Arnold AFB, Tennessee. The role is part of an integrated team responsible for maintaining and sustaining U.S. Air Force Test Operations and Sustainment efforts. The Chemical and Metallurgical Services Group seeks an experienced organic chemist to conduct chemical testing and analysis, working independently to identify trace and major organic compounds and to calibrate and operate sophisticated analytical instruments. Under the supervision of the Chemistry Laboratory Supervisor, the chemist analyzes drinking water, wastewater, soils, oils, fuels, and industrial hygiene media for organic analytes using prescribed EPA, NIOSH, ASTM, and other methods. The position includes calibrating and maintaining instruments, following method quality-control procedures, using analytical instruments and extraction techniques, adapting or developing methods for unique sample matrices, training junior chemists, recording results in LIMS, and maintaining laboratory supplies and documentation. The role also requires acceptable performance on external evaluation and internal challenge samples, occasional travel for vendor training, and wearing company-issued PPE as directed. This is a regular, full-time, exempt position based at Arnold AFB, TN. A chemistry degree and substantial hands-on analytical laboratory experience are required, with the required experience duration depending on degree level. U.S. citizenship is required, and the employee must be able to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and authorized access to the AEDC local area network. BNH does not provide immigration-related employment authorization support for this position.

  • Hands-on experience in an analytical chemistry laboratory as an organic chemist operating gas chromatography with FID, ECD, and TCD detectors, GC/mass spectrometry, HPLC, and FTIR instruments.
  • Experience performing purge-and-trap, soxhlet, and liquid/liquid extraction techniques.
  • Experience developing analytical methodologies, troubleshooting and correcting instrument malfunctions, and interpreting analytical data.
  • Experience authoring technical reports or scientific documents and presenting analytical findings.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an active security clearance and authorized user access to the AEDC local area network.
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to federal government contract compliance and the need to access secure federal databases and networks on Arnold Air Force Base.
  • Wear company-issued PPE in accordance with supervisory direction and company policy.
