About The Position

Join an exceptional Organ Procurement team. UW Organ and Tissue Donation is one of the highest performing Organ Procurement Organizations in the United States. We are seeking an Organ Procurement Coordinator. This role involves Critical Care Donor Management, supporting the medical management of organ donor patients of all ages to save as many lives as possible through transplantation. Coordination of Organ Placement to maximize organ utilization by applying donor management strategies that optimize the donor’s organs and find recipients of their life-saving gifts across the country. End-of-Life and Compassionate Care is provided to donor families at the end of their loved ones’ lives by monitoring, evaluating, and supporting the placement of life-saving gifts. Hospital Relationships and Donation Culture involves collaboration with and education to hospital staff to positively impact the donation culture throughout UW Organ and Tissue Donation’s service area. Quality Improvement and Evidence-Based Practices are key, working on a clinical team that always looks to improve processes and apply advanced practice techniques while ensuring excellence in care and meeting regulatory standards.

Requirements

  • Graduate of school of nursing Required
  • Bachelor's Degree in healthcare related field Required
  • 6 months of clinical experience with surgical, critical care, emergency services or O.R. expertise Required
  • Registered Nurse licensed in the State of Wisconsin or may practice under a compact license per state regulations Upon Hire Required
  • 3 years of relevant Organ Procurement Coordinator Agency work Required
  • BLS certification Upon Hire Required

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor's Degree in Nursing Preferred
  • Critical care experience in pediatric, neurosurgery ICU, trauma or medical ICU, with leadership as charge nurse, or resource nurse and experience with caring for donor patients and families Preferred
  • Certified Procurement Transplant Coordinator (CPTC) Preferred
