About The Position

New England Donor Services (NEDS) coordinates organ and tissue donation in Connecticut, Maine, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Rhode Island, the eastern counties of Vermont and Bermuda. NEDS works with over 200 hospitals and serves nearly 15 million people, screening nearly 55,000 potential donor referrals annually. The organization's vision is to be a leader in increasing the life-saving and life-enhancing gifts of organ and tissue donation through effective relationships with clinical partners, donor families, and communities. As a Donation Coordinator, you will respond on-site to organ donor referrals to provide clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation, and organ recovery. This full-time, 36-hours-a-week, night hybrid position involves educating hospital staff on the donation process, working with donor families to obtain consent, and collaborating with multiple surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation. Success in this role requires a self-assured professional with keen clinical assessment skills, flexibility, and the ability to remain calm and effective in highly charged and clinically complex situations.

Requirements

  • Experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist
  • Critical care or trauma experience with medical/clinical credentials including experience managing complicated clinical event
  • Valid driver’s license and insurance
  • Reliable transportation
  • Maintain the requirements of an “eligible driver” including being at least 21 years old, maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and required minimum personal automobile insurance per NEDS automobile policy
