About The Position

New England Donor Services (NEDS) is seeking an experienced ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse, or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist to join their team. As a Donation Coordinator, you will respond on-site to organ donor referrals to provide clinical expertise in donor evaluation, donor management, organ allocation, and organ recovery. You will blend high-level clinical and people skills to educate hospital staff on the donation process, work with donor families to obtain consent for donation, and collaborate with multiple surgical teams and critical care staff to optimize organs for transplantation. Success in this role requires a self-assured professional with keen clinical assessment skills, the ability to be flexible, and to remain calm and effective in highly charged and clinically complex situations. The next Donation Academy Orientation class is scheduled for January 2027.

Requirements

  • ICU RN, Critical Care RN, Trauma Nurse, or Critical Care Respiratory Therapist experience

  • Must maintain the requirements of an “eligible driver” including being at least 21 years old, maintaining an acceptable Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) and required minimum personal automobile insurance per NEDS automobile policy.
  • Annual influenza vaccination is required for employees who work in a clinical or healthcare environment outside of NEDS facilities.

Nice To Haves

  • Critical care or trauma experience with medical/clinical credentials including experience managing complicated clinical events
  • Bachelor's Degree preferred
  • CPTC Certification a plus
  • Lives within an hour of New Haven, CT
