ASRC Federal Field Services is seeking an Ordinary Seaman to provide support to operations and maintenance functions at a research facility. This role involves assisting in the operations of a water ferry within domestic waterways, ensuring the safe transport of passengers and freight, and supporting the vessel captain in navigation and boat handling. The Ordinary Seaman will also support the operation of marine vessels in the transport of passengers, freight, cargo, and livestock, perform maintenance, handle lines, operate vessel equipment, and ensure that proper procedures and safety practices are followed. Additionally, they will ensure that machinery and equipment are in good working order. Duties include line handling, vessel maintenance, monitoring passenger movement, visitor control, housekeeping, navigational assistance, directing freight traffic, and deck loading of freight. In alignment with tasks, the employee will be required to utilize appropriate PPE such as safety shoes, hard hats, hearing, and eye protection. The role requires the ability to climb ladders, reach overhead, and lift to 50 lbs. The work environment is industrial and may include loud noise, heat stress, and working both indoors and outdoors. Effective communication with all levels of personnel and customers is essential. The shift starts and ends in Connecticut.
