About The Position

This position transports patients to and from the O.R., handles routine tasks related to patient care, organizes equipment, and provides general cleaning of surgical suites. The role requires working in the O.R. and applying standards of and maintaining sterile technique appropriately. It involves obtaining and restocking supplies, assisting with room turnover including cleaning and preparing the room for the next case, and assisting anesthesia when needed. The orderly is responsible for keeping the department clean, transporting patients to and from surgery, and transporting specimens including blood and blood products. Depending on the need, the role may involve scrubbing into procedures and assisting with organ holds, extremity holds, camera holds, and retractor holds, as well as opening sterile supplies.

Requirements

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification for healthcare providers.
  • Pass Basic Aseptic Technique class.

  • Pass Basic Aseptic Technique class. Required within 90 days of hire or transfer into this job.

  • May open sterile supplies.
