About The Position

The Oral Surgery Attending will promote a safe, cooperative, and professional healthcare environment, ensuring optimum patient care. This role involves adhering to all hospital policies and procedures, prioritizing customer service, and effectively communicating with patients and staff. The Attending will be knowledgeable about department policies and protocols to convey information to residents. Responsibilities include timely and comprehensive chart reviews, providing clinical supervision to residents in various programs (Pediatric, General Practice, Orthodontic, Oral Surgery, and Dental Anesthesia), and delivering dental lectures. The Attending will also mentor residents in QI and research projects, follow hospital directives, and participate in hospital committees. On-call duties are required monthly, shared with other Oral Surgery Attendings.

Requirements

Graduate Accredited of a US OMFS Residency & Board Certified by ABOMS or at minimum be board eligible with plan to become certified within 3 years
NYS Dental License

Responsibilities

Promote a safe, cooperative and professional health care environment to ensure optimum patient care.
Adhere to all hospital policies, procedures, rules and regulations.
Make Customer Service a priority, treating customers (patients, visitors, and co-workers) in a professional manner exercising courtesy and tact.
Effectively communicate with patients and others about SBH services in their area(s) of expertise or responsibility and ensures that concerns, questions or issues reach the right person(s) in SBH in a timely fashion.
Be knowledgeable about Department policies and protocols, so as to be able to convey that information to the residents.
Responsible for a timely, comprehensive review and signing of charts of all residents s/he worked with.
Provide clinical supervision of residents in Pediatric, General Practice, Orthodontic, Oral Surgery and Dental Anesthesia Residency Programs as defined by the attendings areas of expertise.
Provider should be trained on the full scope of Oral Surgery & Maxillofacial Surgery including, IV Sedation, dento alveolar surgery, maxillofacial trauma, orthodontic surgery, implant planning & placement, TMJ surgery and major laceration repair.
Provide dental lectures to Pediatric, General Practice, Orthodontic, Oral Surgery and Dental Anesthesia Residents as defined by attendings area of expertise.
Be available to mentor residents in QI and research projects.
Follow all hospital directives, including but not limited to maintaining an up- to- date Healthstream, MED IQ and OHS file, and attendance at Department Staff meetings.
Willing to participate in Hospital Committees.
Hospital on call monthly, shared with other Oral Surgery Attendings in the department.
