About The Position

Oral Surgery Assistant at Virginia Oral & Facial Surgery provides oral and maxillofacial surgical care throughout the Greater Richmond Area. The role involves assisting surgeons, preparing instruments and rooms, and ensuring patient comfort through life-changing treatments. Requirements

• One (1) year of dental assisting or surgery technical experience required.
• Demonstrated understanding of sterilization principles, required.
• Understanding of HIPAA, required.
• Radiology certification, required.
• Familiar with anatomy and medical and dental terminology pertaining to oral surgery.
• Exceptional customer service skills.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

Nice To Haves

• Oral and maxillofacial surgery experience, preferred.
• CPR certification, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide patient care with empathy before, during, and after procedures.
• Assist surgeon with evaluations, surgeries, and post-op visits.
• Take digital x-rays and models.
• Document patient charts accurately during evaluations, surgical procedures, and post-op appointments.
• Prepare surgical trays, and evaluation and surgical rooms for procedures.
• Maintain sterilization of instruments, laboratories, and treatment rooms.
• Complete clinical and pharmacy logs according to practice standard.
