About The Position

Our Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery practice is seeking a dependable, energetic, and compassionate Oral Surgery Assistant / Front Desk Administrator to join our team. This is a dual-role position for someone who enjoys working directly with patients and is comfortable supporting both the clinical and administrative sides of an oral surgery practice. The ideal candidate is organized, professional, detail-oriented, and able to transition smoothly between patient care, surgical assisting, and front-office responsibilities. This position will primarily support the surgical team and patients while also providing front-office and administrative assistance as needed. You will play an important role in creating a positive patient experience and keeping the practice running efficiently.

Requirements

  • Previous dental assisting, oral surgery, surgical assisting, or healthcare experience preferred.

  • Previous oral surgery experience is strongly preferred, but we are willing to consider candidates with strong dental assisting or healthcare experience who are motivated to learn.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the oral surgeon during consultations and surgical procedures.
  • Prepare treatment rooms and surgical equipment.
  • Assist with IV sedation and surgical procedures according to training and practice protocols.
  • Obtain and document patient health histories and vital signs.
  • Monitor and assist with patient recovery following sedation.
  • Provide patients and caregivers with post-operative instructions.
  • Assist with patient discharge and ensure patients understand their instructions.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and properly stocked clinical environment.
  • Perform sterilization, instrument processing, and operatory turnover.
  • Follow OSHA, HIPAA, infection-control, and practice safety protocols.
  • Anticipate the needs of the surgeon and surgical team.
  • Provide compassionate and professional patient care throughout the surgical experience.
  • Greet patients warmly and professionally.
  • Answer incoming telephone calls and direct calls appropriately.
  • Assist with patient check-in and check-out.
  • Schedule consultations, surgeries, and follow-up appointments.
  • Assist patients with questions regarding appointments, paperwork, and general office procedures.
  • Scan, upload, and maintain patient records and documentation.
  • Assist with referrals and communication with referring dental offices.
  • Enter and update patient information accurately in the practice management system.
  • Assist with obtaining insurance information and other administrative tasks.
  • Support the front-office team during periods of increased activity.
  • Maintain patient confidentiality and comply with HIPAA requirements.
