About The Position

The Oral Care Consultant is responsible for developing and strengthening Colgate's scientific image with practicing dental professionals and establishing long-term, trust-based relationships with them. This position is responsible for influencing and convincing practicing dental professionals to make Colgate oral care products an integral part of their practice, ensuring Colgate is the brand they use both personally and in their dental office, and that they also actively recommend to their patients. This position acts as a direct interface with accounts in an assigned geographic territory.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or dental assistant certificate.
  • 1-2 years of similar clinical detailing / professional sales background or other relevant experience
  • Proven track record of superior detailing
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English)

  • Stays current on scientific literature by having scientific discussions with key opinion leaders, attending scientific conferences, and regularly accessing relevant scientific literature
  • Translates science and technology into practical, relevant healthcare information that captures professionals' attention.
  • Leverages knowledge of oral diseases, local population health trends, and oral care issues to identify potential business opportunities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop a strong professional relationship and rapport with dental professionals (e.g., dentists, dental hygienists, and staff)
  • Optimize the number of dental offices contacted in the assigned territory.
  • Within the assigned territory, influence dentists and their staff to use, display, and actively recommend Colgate products using the Triple Win steps
  • Update the “Customer Relationship Management (CRM)” database with relevant account contact information, product detailing activity, brand usage, brand recommendation preference information, and feedback on Colgate products. Responsible for maintaining customer records in a computerized database.
  • Understand competitor product weaknesses and ethically persuade and convert dental offices to Colgate technologies for better patient treatment outcomes
  • Represent Colgate at dental conventions, professional association meetings, and creatively develop and expand professional networking opportunities
  • Seek answers to detailed professional questions about products and scientific literature on product development or scientific matters
  • Effective management of product samples and printed materials to include compliance with monthly inventory
