The Oracle/SQL DBA provides enterprise-level database engineering, administration, tuning, and support for VA-EISS and related VA systems for the Department of Veterans Affairs (VA), Office of Information and Technology (OIT), Product Delivery Services (PDS), Benefits and Memorials (BAM), Memorial and Benefit Services (MBS) to deliver secure, reliable, and effective Information Technology (IT) solutions that support the Department’s mission. Responsibilities include managing Oracle and SQL Server databases, supporting ETL/ELT processes, overseeing data migration, ensuring configuration and change management compliance, and providing critical support for modernizing legacy data into BIP AWS VAEC environments. The role involves providing administrative support for Oracle and SQL databases, including setup, maintenance, and optimization. Perform database operations, data definition (DDL), data manipulation (DML), and performance tuning. Support development, validation, implementation, and testing of data migration strategies and plans. Support migration and re-hosting of legacy databases to modern VA cloud platforms such as BIP AWS VAEC. Implement, configure, and support database migration tools such as Liquibase, Flyway, DMS, GoldenGate, AWS Glue. Govern all changes made to databases and ensure compliance with VA’s Configuration Management (CM) processes. Manage software licenses, maintenance agreements, certificates, and upgrades for database environments. Maintain Physical Data Models, Data Catalogs, and SOPs.
