About The Position

TxDOT is seeking an experienced Database Developer / Administrator (Level 3) to support ongoing development, maintenance, and optimization of Oracle Spatial and PL/SQL-based systems. The selected resource will work as part of an Agile Scrum Team, contributing to user stories, resolving defects, and enhancing spatial database capabilities across the enterprise.

Requirements

  • 8+ years Oracle Spatial (dynamic segmentation, LRS, SDO)
  • 8+ years Oracle PL/SQL
  • 8+ years Version control systems (Azure DevOps, GIT)
  • 8+ years SQL Developer (or other like IDEs)
  • 8+ years Esri ArcSDE (integration with Oracle Spatial)
  • Azure DevOps (project management, user stories/bugs/test cases, etc.)
  • Eclipse, IntelliJ
  • Agile methodology
  • Candidate must already live within 50 miles of Austin, TX

Nice To Haves

  • Esri ArcSDE knowledge is great

Responsibilities

  • Work as part of a Scrum Team
  • Complete user stories, bugs and technical debt
  • Review, update and develop PL/SQL including LRS and other Oracle Spatial operations
  • Integrate PL/SQL code into Azure DevOps code repository
  • Evaluate user requests for new data elements, new features and provide any necessary technical assistance
  • Perform data modeling, prototyping, and maintain data dictionary ensuring uniformity of definitions and standards
  • Monitor database performance and recommend efficiency improvements
  • Help resolve database-related security risks and vulnerabilities
  • Assist with required reporting as established by the client
  • Work collaboratively as part of a Scrum Team to deliver assigned user stories, bugs, and technical debt items.
  • Review, update, and develop PL/SQL, including LRS and other Oracle Spatial operations.
  • Integrate PL/SQL code into Azure DevOps repositories using version control best practices.
  • Evaluate user requests for new data elements, enhancements, and features; provide technical guidance as needed.
  • Perform data modeling, prototyping, and maintain the data dictionary to ensure consistency of definitions and standards.
  • Monitor and analyze database performance, recommending improvements for efficiency and scalability.
  • Identify and help resolve database-related security risks and vulnerabilities.
  • Assist with client-required reporting and documentation activities.
