Requirements

Graduate of accredited school of nursing
2 years experience in the Operating Room required.
Current RN license to practice nursing in New Jersey.
Current BCLS Certification required
Influenza Vaccinations are a requirement for employment. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date, during the influenza season, if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical exemption.

Nice To Haves

ACLS preferred.
Previous operating room nursing extremely desirable.

Responsibilities

Responsible for the direct and indirect care of perioperative patients.
Responsible for planning, organizing and directing the OR subspecialties under their charge and communicates pertinent information to provide optimum patient care in the Operating Room Department.
Assists the Nurse Manager in assuming responsibility for clinical management of specific perioperative teams.
Assists in developing and monitoring quality improvement issues and assuring competent staff are able to meet the needs of the patient population on the specialty team.
Scrubs/circulates in the vascular lab when assigned.
Available as a resource for other areas of the hospital requiring surgical interventions such as labor and delivery.
Implements intraoperative nursing needs for specific patient population.
Sets goals and prescribes appropriate actions to meet the goals.
Specialties include: ortho, podiatry, spine and oral surgery, or other services as assigned.
Uses verbal and written communication skills.
Demonstrates knowledge of proper documentation procedures.
Demonstrates ability to interact with others appropriately.
All other duties as assigned.
Provides information in development of annual budget.
Uses resources Judiciously.
Collaborates with Director of Surgical Services or designee to develop physician marketing strategies.
Demonstrates commitment to professional growth and keeps updates on current practices.
