About The Position

About the Role: The OR RN Circulator plays a critical role in ensuring the smooth and safe operation of the surgical environment within healthcare facilities. This position is responsible for managing the overall nursing care in the operating room, coordinating with surgical teams, and maintaining a sterile and efficient environment to support successful surgical outcomes. The OR RN Circulator acts as a patient advocate, ensuring patient safety and comfort before, during, and after surgical procedures. This role requires vigilance in monitoring the surgical process, anticipating the needs of the surgical team, and responding promptly to any changes or emergencies. Ultimately, the OR RN Circulator contributes significantly to the delivery of high-quality perioperative care and positive patient experiences.

Requirements

  • Current and valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the United States.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Prior experience or clinical exposure in perioperative nursing or operating room settings.
  • Strong knowledge of sterile techniques and infection control standards.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified Perioperative Nurse (CNOR) credential.
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree.
  • Experience working in a high-volume surgical center or hospital operating room.
  • Familiarity with electronic health records (EHR) and perioperative documentation systems.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare the operating room by ensuring all necessary equipment, supplies, and instruments are sterile and available.
  • Coordinate with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other team members to facilitate efficient surgical procedures.
  • Monitor patient status and safety throughout the surgical process, including positioning and documentation.
  • Maintain strict adherence to infection control protocols and hospital policies to ensure a sterile environment.
  • Assist in the management of surgical specimens and documentation of intraoperative events.
  • Respond promptly to any intraoperative emergencies or changes in patient condition.
  • Provide patient education and emotional support before and after surgery as needed.
  • Ensure accurate and thorough documentation of all perioperative nursing activities.
