About The Position

The OR Nurse will provide total, patient-centered perioperative care by applying the nursing process in a systematic and organized manner, in accordance with facility policies and patient safety standards. This role involves collaborating with patients, families, physicians, anesthesia providers, and ancillary departments to ensure seamless, well-coordinated care. The nurse will communicate proactively with the healthcare team regarding changes in patient condition, care plans, patient progress, and discharge needs. Responsibilities include demonstrating knowledge of nursing responsibilities related to anesthesia administration and monitoring, responding quickly and effectively in emergency situations, and safely transferring patients according to prescribed plans and established protocols. The role also entails creating, maintaining, and monitoring a sterile surgical field, performing surgical counts, dispensing medications, and managing the care of surgical patients before, during, and after procedures. Ensuring appropriate equipment and supplies are available, maintaining accurate documentation using electronic health record systems, and assisting with patient flow and room turnover are also key aspects of this position.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in Nursing required
  • Active and unrestricted New Jersey Registered Nurse (RN) license
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required
  • Minimum of 1 year of experience as a Registered Nurse in the OR
  • Strong clinical assessment and critical-thinking skills
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
  • Proficiency with computers and clinical documentation systems
  • Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced surgical environment

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
  • Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) preferred
  • Urology experience preferred
  • Scrub experience preferred
