About The Position

Beverly Hills Endosurgical Center is an outpatient facility specializing in endoscopy procedures, proudly serving Beverly Hills and the surrounding areas. We are seeking an experienced and collaborative OR Circulator RN to assist in clinical operations at our high-performing endoscopy center. This is an exceptional opportunity for a nurse who is driven and passionate about surgical excellence, as well as delivering outstanding patient care in an outpatient environment.

Requirements

Must be licensed in the State as an R.N.
Must have current BLS, ACLS certifications and, if applicable, PALS.
Must be able to communicate and understand the English language, both verbal and written.
Must possess the physical ability and perceptive acuity (e.g., visual, hearing) to satisfactorily perform all direct and indirect care functions.
May be expected to lift twenty-five pounds without assistance.
Is required to obtain assistance when moving patients unable to assist in moving unless patient is in wheelchair or on gurney.
May be required to push patients in wheelchairs or on gurneys.
Will be expected to obtain assistance when needed.

Nice To Haves

Minimum of one year of experience in peri-operative nursing (preferred but not mandatory)
Thorough working knowledge of surgical and aseptic technique.
Working knowledge of the physiological and anatomical aspects of the surgical intervention scheduled.

Responsibilities

Coordinate and control multi-disciplinary activities required to provide a safe environment for patients undergoing surgical intervention.
Act as a patient advocate, identifying, anticipating, and meeting patients' psychological, physiological, and physical needs.
Provide communication between the operating room team and external parties concerned with the patient's operative status.
Make provisions for instrument, supply, and equipment requirements for surgical procedures.
Document accurate and timely data, including charge sheets, incident reports, nursing notes, and surgical logs.
Meet the needs of the center as demanded by the surgical schedule, including overtime and time changes.
File incident reports for any unusual events involving patients or staff.
Report any incidences or alleged incidences of abuse, harassment, or injury.
Verify patient identity, procedure consent, site, laterality, and physician.
Confirm NPO status, bowel prep adequacy, allergies, medication history, and preoperative clearances.
Ensure informed consent and anesthesia evaluation are complete.
Inspect the OR to ensure it is clean, complete, and safe, and check all equipment for safety and functionality.
Direct and assist the surgical technician in preparing for the surgical procedure.
Conduct surgical counts with the surgical technician and document.
Greet the patient in the Pre-Op Holding Area for identification and assessments.
Accompany the patient to the OR and assist in the transfer to the operating room table.
Remain at the patient's side during anesthesia induction until the patient is anesthetized, positioned, and secured.
Confirm patient identity, procedure, consent, site, laterality, and physician using standardized time-out processes.
Anticipate the needs of the surgical team and provide supplies and equipment.
Coordinate all activities within the OR to ensure a safe, effective, and timely surgical intervention.
Maintain an environment free of disturbing sounds and statements.
Be alert for any break in technique that may contaminate the operative field.
Maintain a running tally of sponge count materials and needles, and document, informing the surgeon of discrepancies.
Ensure accurate specimen handling, including proper labeling, placement in appropriate containers, and documentation.
Maintain accurate records of patient-oriented data during the surgical procedure, such as vital signs.
Assist with dressings.
Provide assistance as needed for delivery of patient care in the post-operative phase.
Deliver a patient handoff report to the nurse in the Recovery Room area.
Ensure completion of all documentation.
Ensure specimens are accurately identified and delivered to the appropriate area.
Direct and assist with room turnover in accordance with infection prevention protocols.
Ensure readiness of the room and equipment for subsequent procedures.
Participate in terminal cleaning and end-of-day activities.
Adhere to Infection Control, Patient Rights, and Quality standards.
Participate in quality improvement activities, audits, and performance initiatives.
Maintain competence in emergency response, including airway management support and code response.
