About The Position

USPI Texan Surgery Center is seeking a motivated OR Charge Nurse to join its team. The center has three operating rooms and performs outpatient ophthalmology procedures. The position is weekdays only, with no holidays, weekends, or call. Some early mornings and later evenings may be required, and the schedule may change based on the surgical schedule and daily workflow. Typical days end by 3:00–4:00 p.m. The OR Charge Nurse supervises operating room staff and supports the daily flow of surgical cases. The role coordinates scheduling, staffing, supplies, equipment, education, compliance, performance improvement, and administrative processes across the OR and related departments, including radiology and anesthesia.

Responsibilities

Supervise OR staff to support a smooth daily flow of cases.
Assist with coordinating daily OR case scheduling with other staff, including OR and X-ray, to ensure the schedule flows smoothly.
Prepare monthly call schedules.
Prepare, coordinate, and conduct monthly meetings for OR, radiology, and anesthesia technicians.
Communicate with physicians to resolve issues and improve efficiency and case flow.
Order instruments and equipment for cases.
Coordinate quarterly inventory in all OR areas.
Coordinate and/or provide OR education in-services.
Prepare the following day's schedules in the afternoon.
Supervise the evening shift, coordinating staff for completion of the day's cases and setup for the next day, including radiology.
Coordinate equipment or instrument orders and repairs with physicians to resolve related issues.
Communicate with vendors and representatives regarding supplies, equipment, and instruments needed for cases.
Work with Materials and Sterile Processing to coordinate supply and instrument needs.
Prepare and administer annual evaluations.
Work with the manager on hiring and orienting OR staff members.
Help revise and prepare policies related to OR functions.
Assist with maintaining compliance for Joint Commission surveys.
Enter company data collections and observations in company EDGE and enter MIDAS data.
Enter data into the Kronos timekeeping program.
Assist with staff counseling as necessary.
Coordinate and assist with Performance Improvement Projects.
