About The Position

The OR Assistant (ORA) maintains a clean, healthful environment for patients and personnel in the surgical department. This role assists in the efficient turnover of operating rooms between cases and aids in the transport of patients to and from the surgical department. The ORA is also responsible for ordering supplies as necessary to maintain correct inventory levels.

Requirements

• A high school diploma or GED equivalent.
• Knowledge of working around a sterile field without causing contamination.
• BLS within first six months of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Prior experience in a hospital setting.
• Housekeeping experience.

Responsibilities

• Manages and maintains the cleanliness around the operating rooms where surgeries take place.
• Performs cleaning services in the surgical department, including sweeping and mopping of surgical suites after each use within the stated expected time frame.
• Handles and cleans all equipment required for surgery, ensuring all tools and parts are present, clean, and in working order for the procedure.
• Assists with patient positioning in the operating room under the direction of the nursing surgical team.
• Assists in the set-up of equipment for a surgical procedure.
• Maintains a steady level of productivity.
• Assists with transport of patients as needed.
• Stocks and restocks room supplies as needed.
• Performs daily checks and monitoring, and documentation of eye wash stations, blanket and fluid warmers, etc.
