To support the practice’s growth, Carlsbad Optometry is looking to expand its team and add a part-time fill-in Optometrist immediately. This is an excellent opportunity to experience a private practice feel in a tight-knit community. The practice first opened in 2009 and has grown to become the premier eye care office in Carlsbad/San Diego’s North County. Combining cutting-edge technologies, expertise, and high-quality products, the practice is dedicated to providing exceptional and personalized vision care to every patient. In addition to offering primary optometric services, the doctors specialize in specialty contact lens fittings, myopia management, glaucoma treatment, acute eye care, pediatric eye care, and designer eyewear and customer lens designs.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry degree, O.D. including Third Party Administrator (TPA) certificate of licensure
  • 1-3 years of clinical practice experience with current knowledge of Optometric technology and practices
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong management, leadership, and organizational skills
  • Strong business aptitude, self-discipline, and ability to deliver outstanding patient service
  • Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment in the performance of his/her job duties
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Dependable, team-oriented provider who enjoys collaborating with others.
  • Pride in caring for a diverse patient population.
  • Attentive listener who genuinely prioritizes patient comfort, health, and safety.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with specialty contact lenses, myopia management, and glaucoma treatment is a plus.
  • Specialty contact lens experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Providing coverage for PTO as needed.
  • Caring for approximately 16 to 22 patients per day.
  • Performing comprehensive eye exams.
  • Recommending vision-enhancing solutions.
  • Promoting long-term eye health through patient education.
  • Using modern technology such as Optos imaging, the HERO Visual Field Headset, auto phoropter, and OCT.
  • Following an accommodative exam template to deliver a thorough, engaging exam experience.
  • Collaborating with an experienced and supportive team to ensure the best possible outcomes for every patient.
  • Providing comprehensive, patient-centered eye care to individuals of all ages.
  • Performing comprehensive eye exams, contact lens evaluations, glaucoma testing and treatment, and co-management of diabetic eye disease, cataract surgery, and LASIK.
