About The Position

ATC Healthcare Northwest is seeking a qualified Locum Tenens Optometrist for a 13-week assignment at correctional healthcare facilities in Madras and Ontario, Oregon. The role provides essential eye care to an underserved patient population in a structured correctional healthcare environment. Compensation is $120–$130 per hour. Previous correctional healthcare experience is preferred but not required. Other details are TBD.

Requirements

• Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program.
• Active Oregon optometry license or ability to obtain the required license before the assignment begins.
• Previous clinical optometry experience required.
• Strong clinical assessment, communication, and documentation skills.
• Ability to work independently in a structured correctional healthcare environment.

• Previous correctional healthcare experience.

Responsibilities

• Perform comprehensive eye examinations and vision screenings.
• Diagnose and manage common eye conditions and diseases.
• Prescribe corrective lenses and medications as appropriate and within the scope of licensure.
• Develop treatment plans and recommend appropriate follow-up care.
• Maintain accurate and timely patient records.
• Collaborate with healthcare professionals to support continuity of care.
• Educate patients on eye health, vision correction, and preventive care.
• Follow applicable clinical standards, facility protocols, and professional practice requirements.
