About The Position

As an entity of the Confederated Tribes of the Goshute Reservation, Sacred Circle Healthcare preserves the Goshute heritage of protecting and caring for family and extends the tradition to all marginalized and underserved populations in our area. Sacred Circle Healthcare is seeking a Full-time Optometrist who is genuine, kind, ambitious, positive, and helpful. This role is for someone passionate about delivering uncompromising care and making a difference every day. This position is responsible for providing comprehensive vision care to patients, including conducting eye inspections, evaluating eye defects, recording treatment plans, identifying signs of disease or injury, prescribing corrective lenses, and maintaining medical files. The Optometrist will also treat ocular disease within the scope of practice defined by the UT Optometry Practice Act.

Requirements

  • Doctor of Optometry degree
  • Valid license to practice in the state of Utah.
  • One (1) year or more of experience as an optometrist in a clinic setting.
  • BLS certified.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of one-year ACOE accredited residency program
  • Board Certification ( AAO Fellowship, diplomate ABO)
  • Experience working with the Native American community.

Responsibilities

  • Oversees and directs the care of patients.
  • Administer to the patient’s immediate optometric needs.
  • Undertake medical evaluation, including history, physical examination, and referrals.
  • Develop treatment objectives and plans.
  • Initiate treatment orders and procedures.
  • Educate and counsel patients to promote positive ocular health.
  • Maintains and reviews patient records, charts, and other pertinent information.
  • Documents in a timely fashion.
  • Consult with the Medical Director, as necessary.
  • Promotes patient satisfaction in all clinical settings.
  • Attends required meetings and participates in committees as requested.
  • Participates in clinical rotation in our Ibapah clinic.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality.
  • Maintains professional level of conduct regarding attitude and communication with staff and patients.
  • Understands and adheres to prescribing and scope of practice regulations as required by state.
  • Reads, understands, and adheres to all Sacred Circle Health Care Policies and Procedures.
  • Practices and adheres to the Code of Conduct and Mission and Values Statements.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
