Optometrist
About The Position
Prairie Band Health Service is seeking an Optometrist to provide exceptional healthcare services at Zuni Comprehensive Community Health Center (ZCCHC) Optometry Clinic. This role involves performing comprehensive medical eye examinations, diagnosing and managing various eye conditions, conducting mandated screenings, providing emergency eye care, prescribing corrective lenses and medications, and ordering necessary diagnostic studies. The position operates Monday through Friday during normal clinic hours, between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., excluding Federal holidays. Additional duties may be assigned by a supervisor.
Requirements
- A Doctor of Optometry (O.D.) degree from an accredited institution
- A current, valid, unrestricted license to practice optometry in a U.S. State or territory
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- Required immunizations and tuberculosis screening documentation
Responsibilities
- Perform comprehensive medical eye examinations in an outpatient setting
- Diagnose and manage optometric and ocular medical conditions
- Conduct mandated screenings, including diabetic retinopathy and glaucoma evaluations
- Provide emergency eye care services within scope of licensure and privileges
- Prescribe corrective lenses, contact lenses, visual aids, and therapeutic pharmaceutical agents
- Order laboratory, diagnostic, and radiologic studies as clinically indicated
