About The Position

Shasta Cascade Health Centers (SCHC) is seeking a dedicated and compassionate optometrist to launch and lead its first in-house eye care service offering in Mount Shasta, CA. This full-time role is open to both recent graduates and experienced professionals, offering a unique opportunity to build or expand hands-on experience in clinical care and practice management. SCHC has been serving rural Northern California for over 20 years, providing high-quality, compassionate, and accessible healthcare to medically underserved communities. As a Federally Qualified Health Center, SCHC offers a wide range of services and is committed to patient-centered care. The optometry department is a new initiative, allowing the provider to shape its development from the ground up within a mission-driven, community-focused organization.

Requirements

Optometry license in the state of California
Doctor of Optometry degree

Responsibilities

Perform comprehensive eye exams.
Diagnose and manage ocular diseases.
Prescribe corrective lenses.
Co-manage surgical cases in collaboration with ophthalmology.
Lead and expand the newly established Optometry Department, helping to shape its services and impact within the community.
Take part in provider meetings.
Support community outreach initiatives that align with SCHC’s mission.
