Fill-in/Per-diem Optometrist
About The Position
A thriving private optometry practice in Ohio is seeking a personable and skilled Optometrist to provide fill-in/per-diem coverage. This is an exciting opportunity for a licensed professional who values meaningful patient interactions, is passionate about providing high-quality vision care, and is looking to make a real impact in a close-knit, supportive environment. The practice is open Monday through Friday, with a half day on Wednesday, and is flexible on which days coverage can be provided. There is an immediate need for a motivated Optometrist to perform comprehensive eye exams, seeing approximately 2 patients per hour, averaging 12-15 patients per day. The role offers a collaborative team environment with three licensed opticians and an insurance/front desk specialist. The practice is equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, including Humphrey visual field, tono pen, and Kowa hand-held slit lamp (SL-14). A supportive environment is provided with assistance available for credentialing, licensing, and insurance paperwork. Lunch breaks are approximately 1 hour to 1 hour 15 minutes each day. The patient base is warm, friendly, and appreciative of personal, attentive care.
Requirements
- Licensed Optometrist in Ohio with NPI number and liability insurance (assistance available if needed)
- Credentialed with major insurance providers (Medicare, Eyemed, Davis/Versant, UHC/Spectera, Aetna, etc.) or willing to obtain
- Outgoing, approachable, and able to make patients feel comfortable
- Eager to help people and committed to quality patient care
Nice To Haves
- Preferably a few years of clinical experience
Responsibilities
- Perform thorough eye exams, including dilation as needed
- Prescribe eyeglasses and contact lenses
- Conduct medical eye exams as required
- Deliver an exceptional patient experience with warmth and clear communication
- Complete exams efficiently (under 30 minutes per patient)
