About The Position

The Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is currently seeking a full-time Optometrist 2 to work in Miami. The Optometrist 2 performs ocular examinations to detect disease or abnormal conditions of the eye. Moreover, an employee in this position prescribes eyeglasses, contact lenses, and drugs to treat eye disorders.

Requirements

Doctorate degree - Optometry (OD) required
State of Florida Optometrist license
BLS
Minimum 5 years of relevant experience required

Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively with others and contribute to a team environment.
Technical Proficiency: Skilled in using office software, technology, and relevant computer applications.
Communication: Strong and clear written and verbal communication skills for interacting with colleagues and stakeholders

Responsibilities

Diagnoses eye and vision problems as well as some conditions caused by systemic diseases.
Examines visual acuity, depth, and color perception.
Assesses ability to coordinate and focus eyes.
Prescribes contact lenses and glasses.
Provides vision therapy and low-vision rehabilitation.
Analyzes test results and develops treatment plans.
Administers drugs to aid in the diagnosis of vision problems.
Prescribes drugs to treat some eye diseases.
Provides preoperative and postoperative care.
Adheres to University and unit-level policies and procedures and safeguards University assets
