About The Position

Optometric Technician - Vision Health Specialties in Midland, TX Location: 4109 N Midland Dr, Midland, TX 79707 Are you passionate about healthcare and ready to dive into the world of eye care? At Vision Health Specialties, our Mission is to Save Eyes & Spark Joy! We’re looking for a detail-oriented, patient-focused individual to join our team as an Optometric Technician I. Whether you’re experienced or just starting out, this is your chance to grow your skills, support patients, and be part of a team that truly values both vision and compassion. Competitive salary - starting $15.50-$18/hour with full benefits including PTO, paid holidays, insurance, 401k + match & so much more! Work hours: 8 hours between the hours of 7:30 am to 6:00 pm, and some Saturdays from 8:00am to 12:00pm

Requirements

  • 1+ year of customer service experience (optometric or medical experience is a plus!)
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Strong multitasking and organizational abilities in a fast-paced setting
  • A team player with a growth mindset and eagerness to learn
  • Attention to detail and accuracy in documenting patient information
  • Flexibility and a proactive attitude toward supporting team success

Responsibilities

  • Support optometrists by performing pre-screening tests and assisting with exams
  • Collect patient medical histories and explain vision benefits clearly and confidently
  • Train patients on contact lens use and care
  • Verify insurance, schedule appointments, and keep communication flowing smoothly
  • Help coordinate patient flow and contribute to a seamless, high-quality experience
  • Collaborate with your team to meet goals and deliver exceptional care
  • Welcome and prepare patients for their eye examinations.
  • Obtain patient medical and ocular histories.
  • Perform preliminary testing, including visual acuity, autorefraction, tonometry, retinal imaging, and other diagnostic procedures
  • Assist the doctor during examinations and procedures as needed.
  • Educate patients on contact lenses, eyewear, and treatment plans
  • Maintain accurate electronic medical records.
  • Clean and maintain exam rooms and equipment.
  • Support front desk operations, including scheduling appointments and answering phones when needed.
  • Contact lens training, education, and ordering
