Requirements

  • Current Basic Life Support (BLS) is required, within 30 days of hire.
  • Ability to maintain appropriate clinical privileges.

Nice To Haves

  • Certified or Registered Medical Technician, Medical Assistant and/or Optometry Technician is preferred.
  • 1-3 years of experience in healthcare and/or optometry is preferred, with experience in a community health center is also preferred.
  • Bilingual abilities are preferred, but not required.

Responsibilities

  • Assists the Optometrist in eye examinations and corrective procedures.
  • Assists Physicians, Mid-Levels, Nurses, and other Medical Assistants with patient care.
  • Follows all processes and procedures during patient visits, including pre-testing requirements, eye exercises, and vision therapy.
  • Assists with setting up patient rooms, tray and patient themselves for exams by what the visit entails.
  • Completes documentation on patients for historical information, chief complaints, procedures, patient encounters, phone calls, referrals, education, medication, and follow-ups.
  • Assists with monitoring inventory and keeping the storage supply closet organized.
  • Follows all infection prevention protocols.
  • Follows all processes and procedures after patient visits, including providing educational materials and cleaning the room.
  • Completes all internal processing forms accurately.
  • Travels when necessary to meet operational needs.
  • Performs all other duties as assigned.
