Alcon is looking to hire a Optics Lab Engineer that will be responsible for leading, managing, and/or performing work across multiple engineering areas/specializations. This role is on-site in our Fort Worth, Texas location and a typical day would include: Driving cross‑functional innovation with Optics, Ophthalmology, Chemistry, and Mechanical Engineering teams to solve complex intraocular lens (IOL) and vision‑correction challenges, advancing Alcon’s mission to help people see brilliantly. Lead optical testing to fully characterize new IOL design using established and novel test methods. Owning optical test equipment qualification, maintenance, and upgrades. Analyze and interpret optical test data to be shared with design engineers to improve IOL design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree or Equivalent years of directly related experience (or high school +8 yrs; Assoc.+4 yrs)
  • The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English

Nice To Haves

  • Demonstrated ability to develop creative solutions to complex technical problems
  • Working knowledge of applied optics, optical testing, and scientific analysis on IOL measurement
  • Experience with mechanical design and rapid prototyping to improve optical test systems
  • Ability to identify and implement improvements in test methods and data processing workflows
